Thoughts on Comic-Con Trailers

Stranger Things 2

Stranger Things Season 2 may very well be my favorite trailer out of comic-con. I love those kids. The use of Thriller was just awesome. I’m in love with the Halloween atmosphere. I mean I was super-psyched after the Super Bowl Tease. I just can’t decide whether I’m going to binge this one or try to spread it out and savor it when it finally drops.

I am so ready for Fall.

My number two would have to be:

Thor Ragnarok

Thor Ragnarok

I have to admit I didn’t love this as much as the first one. It felt like there were a little too many stock lines. But Hela continues to look epic…

Chris Hemsworth has great comedic chops. You can tell that from the trailer even if you hadn’t seen his past stuff. I did love the line about his going on a journey of self-discovery which if he only lost his hammer yesterday would have also been a day!

I think my third favorite is a tie:

Justice League Comic Con

Justice League

I love this cast (actually fine to indifferent on Affleck but I love the rest of them!) and it does have some funny, bright and hair flipping moments. Wonder Woman delivered but I’ve been burned before. Maybe I just have to get used to DC style big over the top action sequences but that’s always where the movies begin to fall apart for me.

I mean one of the best clearest most moving sequences of the year was the No Man’s Land scene in Wonder Woman and if the rumors are to be believed Warner wanted to dump it in order to get to Ares faster, which I think, was the weakest part of the film.

I’ve digressed.

I’m hopeful. It has Wonder Woman, Flash and Aquaman and I am unspoiled for anyone else who may show up.

The Defenders Trailer

I might have been in a bad mood while watching this because while I usually love her all I could think was dial Jessica’s snark back just a little please! However, hello Trish! Hello Sigourney Weaver! And this gorgeous shot…

This shot caught my eye!

Makes me want to go to New York. Even if Ripley is trying to destroy it.

I am bummed they didn’t release the new Black Panther footage or the much talked about Infinity War stuff. (I decided not to watch the bootlegged trailers before Disney took them down). To a certain extent I can understand it but after D23 last weekend I’m already tired of listening to people rave about how amazing the Infinity War footage is when it’s not being released.

The Walking Dead trailer was good but felt weirdly long and they’ve been pretty sneaky in the past with footage so I’m not getting my hopes up on anything that I saw. It certainly did leave you with something to talk about though. There were some other good trailers and okay trailers and ones that I’m telling myself it’s just too early to judge (Westworld Season 2).

But that’s pretty much my the ones I was most looking out for. Still surprised nothing was shown for The Last Jedi (but I’m going to see that anyway) and perhaps Disney thinks it’s best not to talk about the Han Solo movie anymore right now. 🙂

I am definitely looking forward to the fall entertainment coming!
